Approach

Psychodynamic therapy brings lasting calm and relief from anxiety by helping you to understand who you are, what you need, and what’s really going on inside you.

Why Treat Anxiety with Insight-Oriented Therapy?

Counseling/Therapy for anxiety and stress in Ballard

Every journey of self-improvement has to start with the search or self-knowledge. Only by knowing ourselves can we ever hope to change.

Insight-Oriented (Psychodynamic) Therapy

We create a lot of extra suffering for ourselves because we don’t know what’s truly going on with us. We try all sorts of things—anything, really—to stop the pain.  But it never really works, or at least not for long, because we’re throwing random solutions at anxieties we don’t yet understand.

To make matters worse, our minds are very skilled at hiding all sorts of unpleasant truths from us.

This makes personal growth tricky business.

I don’t know you, but my best guess is that you don’t really need an anxiety-management worksheet. You probably don’t need a generic 5-step plan to "fix” your pain, seductive as that may sound. And you definitely don’t need someone doling out cheap advice and bumper-sticker pep talks to patch you back up.

What you might need is a rich, complicated understanding of who you are, how you work, and what truly matters to you—a deep sense of who you are that can carry you through all of life’s joy, grief, and confusion. Armed with this self-knowledge, you can make informed decisions about how to live your life most fully and address the root of your worries.

What I provide is a warm, challenging framework in which we can try to get to the bottom of things and get to know the real you.  We’ll explore your past, relationships, and patterns of behavior together, and figure out how we can help you to move forward.
